This is a 3D network visualization of current Chinese ambassadors.
Each ambassador's name is a node in the network
A line connects 2 ambassadors that served in the same overseas country where the year of service overlapped. It's possible that 2 connected ambassadors worked together in the foreign embassy as part of a hand-over/training period. It's also possible that one ambassador left the country before the successor ambassador arrived. We only know that the years overlap in their work history for at least one year.
The more lines or connections associated with an ambassador, the more centrally located they are in the network
The larger an ambassador's name is, the more overseas experience they have. Take into consideration that names become larger the closer they are to you in the 3D network.
How to Use It:
To zoom in and out ... use mouse-wheel
To rotate ... drag with left mouse button
To pan/move ... drag with right mouse button
To select an ambassador ... click their name (or select from dropdown at top)
Hover over an ambassador's name to see their name and photo. Because depth in the 3D network comprises layers of overlapping names, you might think you are hovering over one ambassador, but the name in the popup does not match. You may need to rotate the 3D network in order to hover over the ambassador of interest. Alternatively, you can select an ambassador from the dropdown at the top of the screen.
To deselect highlighted nodes and links ... left-click the black background
